The World Sports Scouting story began in 1992 when I was introduced to the late Sam Ketchman.
A graduate of Michigan State, Sam was captain and MVP of the Spartan football team. He was a
major in the U.S. Air Force and coached at Sparta and East Lansing high schools and Wayne
State. He was also Athletics Director at Ferris State University and served as the head coach in
football, baseball and tennis. Sam served as an administrator and coordinator of promotions for
the Kansas City Royals and later began to promote sport tours for high schools and colleges.

Upon our introduction, Sam proposed that a football team in Germany was looking for a coach. He also mentioned
that they may also want me to play for them. I was coaching at Pace University at the time and my football playing
career was a few years removed. Being a player/coach sounded bizarre but my hunger for playing the game was
still there. I accepted Sam's proposal and the rest is history. In all, I spent five years in Germany with the Kiel Baltic
Hurricanes organization. In my first two seasons (1993-1994) I was a player/coach. I returned in (1999-2001) to
become the team's defensive coordinator and head coach. Thanks to Sam Ketchman, an opportunity to continue
playing this great game and to coach at another level was awarded to me.

In my first year as a player/coach I was approached by a team looking for players. Within a few weeks, two former
colleagues were on a plane to Germany to fill roster spots. Word spread quickly that I helped find these players so
I was approached by a few more teams. My connections turned into a tidal wave that engulfed the leagues of
Europe. Teams needed players and coaches and I knew where to find them. Former teammates and coaching
colleagues were the first people placed when teams initially contacted me. When personal connections were
depleted, I began contacting colleges for prospects. It has now become a never ending process.

This is how World Sports Scouting was created. Teams overseas needed players and coaches and players and
coaches needed teams. World Sports Scouting is the bridge to make this possible. With over a decade of
experience, World Sports Scouting has connected the playing fields throughout the world.

The overseas opportunity that was provided has given me tremendous rewards in my professional and personal
life. I can never thank Sam Ketchman enough for what he has done for me. He gave me that one opportunity that I
grasped and took full advantage of. It was a wonderful experience and a memory that is always with me. I would
like to extend the same to all who will grasp it.
